| SAFETY ON THE STREETS Stand tall, confident and with a purpose. Look around and know where you are going. Look at people in the eye and let them know you are watching them. Walk on the side of the street with the traffic facing you. This will prevent a car from sneaking up behind you. Avoid walking alone and never on a dark street. If you have to carry a purse, carry it under your arm. Carry pepper spray or any personal safety device from Grimberg Enterprises. SAFETY AT HOME: Lock your doors and windows when you are home. If you want to leave your windows open, use a motion sensor to light up the area at night. Don't open the door for anyone unless you know who it is. Talk to the person thru the door and window to let them know you are there. They won't break into the house knowing that someone is in it. Install a peephole with a wide angle so that you can see who is on the other side of the door. VEHICLE SAFETY: Park in a well lit area. Have your keys ready before you approach your car. Lock your doors, roll up your windows and take your keys. Never leave your keys in the ignition. If you are bumped from behind, assess the situation. You could be set up. Stay in your car until the police arrive. Engaging in Self Defense If you need to resort to self defense, that means all other attempts at protecting yourself have failed and you now must fight – potentially for your life. In order to give you the best chances for escape, carry a personal protection weapon with you. After all, you can never be too prepared. A security spray such as Mace or pepper spray will allow you to temporarily blind or stun your attacker so you can make your escape. The effects are immediate and will last for some time. |
